Ranked among the top ten auto suppliers worldwide, German auto components manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen AG is constructing a new facility on a 21 acre plot in the Chakan Industrial Park, near Pune. The company says that it is ramping up its commitment in India with the construction of the new plant in Pune. The facility once complete, will be home to car powertrain and commercial vehicle technology, ZF Services, Engineering and Administration of ZF India.
The new ZF plant will be ready for operations in the first quarter of 2015 and will employ around 350 employees at the location. ZF has spent nearly 20 million Euros (Rs. 150 crores) in the development of the new facility. The company wants to offer design-to-market products to its customers and local producing can help with the same. The company’s research and development centre in Pune will also be located in the same building in order to develop products specifically for the Indian market.
ZF says that the new internal business park represents an excellent expansion of its existing capacities in Pune. It will also serve as a good starting point for expanding the business further in the country. ZF is the global leader in driveline and chassis technology with 121 production companies in 26 countries. The company currently employees 73,600 people globally. The new plant is ZF India’s commitment towards the Indian market and its future prospects.
