The recently spied Yezdi ADV will be pitted against the Royal Enfield Himalayan
Yezdi is readying at least 2 motorcycles for the Indian market and both have been caught undergoing on-road testing recently.
One motorcycle is for the adventure (ADV) category and will rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan, while the other is a scrambler-style bike and they could not be more different.
Let’s start with the ADV which sports a circular headlamp, a flyscreen, both high- and low-set front fenders, high-set handlebar, a shapely fuel tank with jerry can mounts, split seat and the tiniest of tail lamps!
It also has a digital instrument cluster, telescopic front fork with rubber boots, pannier mounts at the back, wire-spoked wheels (the front rim, likely a 21-inch unit, is larger than the driving wheel) and an upswept exhaust canister.
On the other hand, the scrambler type motorcycle that was caught alongside the spied Yezdi ADV looked identical to the model that MotorBeam had reported about back in March.
It has a single-piece seat, wire-spoked wheels, short tail, small and circular tail lamp, a tyre hugger with the registration plate holder, dual rear shocks, and a sleek exhaust end can.
Also, while the ADV has relaxed ergonomics, the scrambler demands a different riding posture, which should nonetheless be comfortable too.
Both motorcycles, and a speculated third roadster model, will be based on the Jawa platform and will reportedly be powered by the Jawa Perak’s 334cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor.
While the bobber-style bike has 30.64 PS and 32.74 Nm, Yezdi could tune its motorcycles differently. They should all come with a 6-speed gearbox though.
Classic Legends is set to relaunch the Yezdi brand in India by the third quarter (Q3) of this financial year (FY22) and the motorcycles might be positioned above the Jawas.
