As the countdown begins for Yamaha’s most anticipated YZF-R25 motorcycle that is scheduled to be revealed on 20th May; bike aficionados throughout the world cannot wait to get a glimpse of the quarter-litre Yamaha and the exceptional power it will produce. Over the past few weeks, several spy shots have revealed what the R25 has shaped up to look like; now these new set of spy shots reveal the instrument cluster of the highly awaited sports bike.
As the spy images reveal, the YZF-R25’s instrument cluster shows the tachometer redlining at a merciless 14,000 RPM. This also confirms the fact that the R25 will come with a 250cc parallel twin-cylinder engine that could belt out around 35 PS of adrenaline thumping power. Expected to have a low kerb weight, the R25 will come with an excellent power to weight ratio. The instrument cluster packs in signal passing lamp, temperature, clock, trip meter and a digital speedometer. Interestingly, the tachometer console also gets an additional digital display unit.
The Yamaha YZF-R25 gets an aggressive design language taking cues from the larger R6 and also the Triumph Daytona 675 to an extent. The quarter-litre sports bike will also get a 140 section rear tyre, clip-on handlebars; rear set foot pegs, LED tail lights and web-spoke alloy wheels, no USD forks on offer though. Yamaha will pit the R25 against the very capable and power packed Kawasaki Ninja 300 in the segment that is sure to face some heat. While Indonesia will get the R25 in some months, the Indian launch could take place around the end of the year.
The Yamaha R25 will be manufactured in India but how much local content will be on the motorcycle is still not known. Expect Yamaha to price the R25 at around Rs. 3 lakhs. While the company hasn’t said a word about ABS, we are hoping the Japanese automaker gives this desirable machine this safety feature.
