The festive season being auspicious for everyone, Yamaha has made sure to join the party by offering a new range of colours on the old FZ street-fighter motorcycle. Even though Yamaha introduced the updated second generation FZ/FZ-S models earlier this year, the Japanese manufacturer has continued to sell the old gen FZ with carbureted system at a significantly lesser price. For customers who still like the older FZ more, Yamaha is offering to choose from three new colours which include preying red, pouncing black and hawk-eye gold, apart from the usual range.
In terms of aesthetics or mechanicals, there are no changes to the old generation Yamaha FZ and the bike continues to be powered by the same 153cc single-cylinder engine that produces 13.8 BHP of power and 13.6 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Yamaha FZ retains the brawny muscular styling that has been leaned out on the new FZ and offers a bigger bike feel coupled with an intimidating look. Suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock at the rear.
The old gen Yamaha FZ has been priced at Rs. 73,250/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) with no additional costs for the new colours and is a healthy Rs. 5000/- cheaper than the new fuel-injected version. With both the models on sale, Yamaha is surely capitalising on the immense fan following the FZ has accumulated over the years. However, we could see the old gen model be discontinued once the demand drops and stocks are cleared but given the price difference, the Version 1 of the FZ is here to stay for quite some time.
