Yamaha will launch another 150cc bike in the competitive Indian market. The company had showcased the SZ Concept (pictures can be seen here) at the 2010 Auto Expo and will launch the bike by end of February. The SZ uses the same engine as the Fazer and we are speculating it will be called as SZ16. Feature wise the SZ is not exciting at all with the omission of a front disc being nothing short of disaster. However pricing will play a key role and we expect the SZ16 to be one of the cheapest 150cc bike in India.
“We plan to expand our network to 2000 touch points in 2010 with a sales target of 3 Lakhs. Moreover, the company will continue to focus on the 150cc+ segment to achieve a target of 25 % share by the end of year. While we will be further consolidating our position in premium category with the launch of R15 Limited white color edition in February, commuting segment will also be revamped,” Mr. Yukimine Tsuji, CEO, Yamaha India said.
