The 2020 Yamaha Tenere 700 Rally Edition has been revealed. It is based on the Tenere 700 and gets a special blue and yellow paint scheme that pays homage to the Yamaha race bikes ridden by Jean-Claude Olivier (JCO) and Serge Bacou in 1983 and 1984 Dakar Rally. Further on, the black Yamaha “speedblock” graphics make it an authentic tribute to the bygone era.
The Yamaha Tenere 700 is a mid-size dual-sport adventure motorcycle which sports a 689cc parallel-twin engine with the famous cross-plane crankshaft. This engine produces 72 BHP and 68 Nm of torque. The figures are not class-leading, but it’s plenty for having fun on the road and the dirt.
Besides the standout paint scheme, there are several other upgrades to it as well. The 700 Rally Edition also comes with an Akrapovic rear can. Whereas this exhaust does not improve the engine performance, Yamaha claims that it will enhance the grunt of the motorcycle.
Other upgrades include a 4 mm alloy bash plate under the engine, aluminium radiator protectors and a laser-cut matching chain guard. The motorcycle also gets a special rally seat, which makes the ride height 20 mm higher than before. Rubber grips for knee and thigh support and off-road bar grips are also part of the deal.
The Tenere 700 Rally Edition is only available in Europe for now and Yamaha is yet to put a price tag on it. If it were to come to India, the Tenere would lock horns with the Triumph Tiger 900, BMW F 750 GS, Suzuki V-Strom 650 and the Kawasaki Versys 650.
