With the completion of the Mission 10,000 kms ride, Yamaha has now launched the SZ-RR V2.0 at a price of Rs. 65,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company is updating its complete lineup one by one.
Yamaha India had organized a long 10,000 kms ride across the country on its FZ-S FI models. The ride came to an end at the YMCA grounds in Chennai. At this event, the company took the opportunity to launch a new bike, the SZ-RR Version 2.0 which is a commuter bike for daily use. The new SZ-RR V2.0 has been incorporated with Blue Core technology, which Yamaha claims to provide fun riding pleasure as well as good economy. It comes powered by an air-cooled 149cc 4-stroke single-cylinder SOHC, carburetor engine. This motor gives the same output of 12.1 PS of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. The Yamaha SZ-RR V2.0 is priced at Rs. 65,300/- (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is around Rs. 4000/- extra over the previous model.
The Yamaha SZ-RR V2.0 features very minor but noticeable cosmetic changes over the SZ-RR V1.0. Yamaha has also added cool new colour combinations which make the bike look sporty and stand out amongst other boring-looking commuter bikes. We can see that a couple of colours have been borrowed from elder sibling FZ V2.0 too. The bike comes with a wheelbase of 1320 mm while its wet weight is 134 kgs. The fuel tank capacity is 14-litres but the real world fuel economy has improved by 11 percent compared to the outgoing model though the company has not yet declared the official fuel efficiency.
The Yamaha SZ-RR measures 2050 mm in length, 760 mm in width and 1100 mm in height. The seat height is 800 mm and ground clearance is 165 mm. The Yamaha SZ-RR gets a diamond-type frame and there are 17-inch wheels at the front and rear. The front suspension is telescopic while the rear unit features dual shocks. There is a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The instrument cluster is fairly simple and basic and the speedometer, tachometer, odometer and fuel gauge are all analog.
