The SZ-RR 153cc commuter has been silently updated with Yamaha’s Blue Core technology that offers improved performance and fuel efficiency on the bike.
Yamaha India has silently updated the SZ-RR 153cc commuter bike with ‘Blue Core’ technology that debuted earlier this year on the FZ/FZ-S as well as the Fazer FI V2.0. While Yamaha has been keeping the model under wraps, our reader Abhishek Goyal gave us a hat tip on the same. The Blue Core technology debuted earlier this year on the FZ and Fazer models that were upgrades with a fuel-injection system; however, the company had promised to update the technology on its non-FI models and the SZ-RR is one of the first models to get the same.
The Blue Core technology comes equipped to the existing the 153cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 12.1 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 12.8 Nm of torque at 4500 RPM, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. While we don’t expect any radical changes to the power output, the technology does improve on several focus areas including reduction in power loss, precise control of fuel supply and improvement in combustion. Expect to see smoother throttle response and enhanced fuel efficiency figures.
Aesthetically, the Yamaha SZ-RR Blue Core gets no design changes and continues with the same commuter friendly design. There is however a new lime green-black dual-tone colour on offer as well as new body graphics. The mechanicals remain the same with telescopic front forks and swingarm type suspension set-up at the rear, while stopping power comes from the disc and drum brake set-up at the front and rear respectively. The Blue Core SZ-RR will be a worthy addition for this festive season and we expect Yamaha to make an official announcement complete with the new figures soon.
