Yamaha R3 Race Concepts Exhaust Launched

The Race Concepts exhaust will give a boost of 3 HP and 2.1 Nm to the Yamaha R3.

The Race Concepts exhaust is longer and sleeker than the stock exhaust

After Akrapovic launched its full exhaust system for the TVS Apache RR 310, Bangalore-based Race Concepts performance parts company has announced a full exhaust system for the Yamaha R3.

With the aftermarket exhaust fitted to the R3, the output figures are given to be 34.9 HP and 23.5 Nm. This is an almost 10 percent increase from the stock R3 that produces 31.9 HP of power and 21.4 Nm of torque. All the figures have been dyno-tested by the company. The power also comes across a broader RPM range.

It should be noted however that all the mentioned output figures give the power delivered to the rear wheel. A dynamometer (dyno) always measures power at the rear wheel and not the crank. This means that while the engine will produce ‘X’ HP of power, due to transmission losses in the driveline, the power transferred by the wheel to the ground will be 15-20 percent lower depending on the efficiency.

Yamaha had updated its R3 entry-level sports bike earlier this year. The bike had received new cosmetics, a standard dual-channel ABS and high-performance Metzeler Sportec M5 tyres. Apart from this, the bike features a digital-analogue instrument cluster, telescopic front forks and an adjustable rear mono-shock. Braking power comes from 298 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc. The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 14-litres.

The Yamaha R3 comes at a price of Rs. 3.48 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC 390. According to reports, Yamaha has begun developing the next-generation 2019 Yamaha R25/R3 that could debut at GIIAS 2018.
