Yamaha R25 Production Version Revealed By Japanese Magazine

There has been a lot of news and speculation floating around the Yamaha YZF-R25 which was unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The year 2013 saw a slew of amazing bike launches in India such as KTM Duke 390, Royal Enfield Continental GT, ten models from Triumph, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and many more. However, no brand appeals to bike enthusiasts as much as Yamaha because the Japanese company always designs and develops their products keeping riding enthusiasts in mind. A 250cc Yamaha motorcycle has been highly awaited and it’s finally en route to production.

The Yamaha R25 will be powered by a 250cc twin-cylinder 4-valve engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. A Japanese magazine Young Machine has now revealed the production version of the R25 and the bike sure looks snazzy. It will have dual headlights and a visor which would be set between the two lights. The Yamaha R15 Version 1 came with a single seat but that didn’t look sporty and the R15 V2 was given a split seat, the R25 has something similar. Going by the pictures, we can also infer that the R25 will have a black exhaust with a carbon fibre-like covering, Yamaha stripes next to the windshield and some cool colour combinations which are very Yamaha.

Since the Yamaha R25 is a 250cc bike, it will compete with the KTM Duke 390, Honda CBR300R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. However, do note that the Duke 390 and CBR300R are single-cylinder bikes whereas the R25 is a twin-cylinder one. The success of this bike will depend on how Yamaha chooses to price the R25 and it is expected to be in the region of Rs. 2.5-2.7 lakhs. Yamaha will launch the YZF-R25 in India in early 2015 and going by the sales numbers of the FZ and R15, this one too should leave the competition far behind. So, even though Yamaha is a bit late to the quarter-litre party, we know that they have a winner on their hands.
