Yamaha has released a new teaser website called Revstation for the production spec R25. The teaser website features a countdown timer for the next eight days and a video showing engineers of the future working on a completely new state-of-the-art motorcycle. Based on the R25 concept model, the ultra futuristic video reveals the line drawing of what the Yamaha R25 production model would look like complete with lights, wing mirrors and road going tyres.
From what we know about the Yamaha R25, the sports bike is based on the R25 concept and features a parallel twin-cylinder engine capable of churning out around 35 BHP of power. Much like its siblings, the R25 will be a powerful track machine built for enthusiasts.
The Yamaha R25 will be competing in the most promising middle-weight two-wheeler segment in the country with the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM Duke 390 and the upcoming Honda CBR300R. Even though Yamaha is late to the quarter–litre party, it will show up with a bang, when the model is launched in 2015. Expect a host of technological advancements to show up on the R25, while the production version is most likely to be called the YZF-R25, as seen on other Yamaha models.
The anticipation for Yamaha’s quarter-litre offering is very high and if the company keeps the prices under the Rs. 3 lakh mark, it could easily manage volumes. The teaser video also showcased a scooter along with a twist-and-go engine and transmission, that could also be unveiled next week.
