Now is the right time to be a motorcycle enthusiast because after being starved for decades, we Indians are finally getting performance machines which we can afford without having to beg or steal (we still have to borrow though). Since 2008, the Indian motorcycle market has taken a positive turn and the last 18 months have been filled with good news (Duke 200, Duke 390, Pulsar 200 NS, Triumph’s 10 models, Street 500, Ninja 300, etc were all launched). But the best bit of news was when Yamaha unveiled the R25 Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Now there is nothing as salivating as a Yamaha bike because the company makes products keeping enthusiasts at the forefront. Just look at the success of the R15 and FZ in India, two bikes which strike the right chord with bikers. Now the R25 is going to be the next big thing for Yamaha but is only set to arrive on Indian soil in 2015. The Concept version will drop a lot of styling elements when it goes into production so we went ahead and envisioned how the production Yamaha R25 might end up looking.
As you can see in these renderings of ours, the production spec R25 gets dual headlights, rear view mirrors, pillion seat, rear mud guard with number plate holder, etc. The motorcycle does look stunning and Yamaha just needs to price it well to lure enthusiasts to their fold. Powering this beast will be a 250cc, twin-cylinder engine which is likely to output upwards of 30 BHP of power. With a light weight, the Yamaha R25 is sure going to be quick but a Rs. 2.5 lakh price tag won’t make it a mouth watering prospect.
