Yamaha India recently announced its intention to start export operations to various countries in the world and hence needs more capacity. The Japanese automaker is thus planning to set up a third plant in India by 2015 as it looks to expand its operations. The company will invest Rs. 300 crore by 2012 to set up warehouses and delivery centers at the Surajpur plant. Expansion of the said plant to 10 lakh units is in progress and will be completed by 2013. Yamaha has two plants in India, the other being at Faridabad. Could the third facility manufacture the R1?
