Yamaha PES2 electric bike unveiled in a video, gets front and rear cameras and advanced rider assistance systems.
Yamaha showcased the PES2 and PED2 electric motorcycle concepts two years ago at the Tokyo Motor Show and has now unveiled the former in a video. The PES2 electric bike is the next iteration of the PES1.
The Yamaha PES2 is a futuristic looking motorcycle with sharp and modern design elements. The vertical stacked LED DRLs with twin projectors in between highlight the bike’s presence. With the PES2, Yamaha brings in GreenCore technology and the Floating Bones and Wings design language on board. The bike gets two cameras, one up front and one at the rear.
A smart helmet with in-helmet display system (that will be probably offered with the bike) makes use of high-sensitivity image sensors and augmented reality (AR) technology. This system visually delivers road and vehicle information to the wearer.
The Yamaha PES2 also gets a Sony tablet like looking colour instrument console, disc brakes on both the wheels and KYB upside down fork suspension setup upfront.
The PES2 is powered by a lithium-ion main battery and an additional electric motor that is built into the hub of the front wheel, thus making it a 2WD electric bike. However, Yamaha hasn’t yet revealed the electric motor’s specifications.
