The Yamaha MT-15 will be launched in India in 2019, it will use the R15 V3’s engine.
Yamaha will launch the most appealing street-fighter bike in India next year, the MT-15. The 2019 Yamaha MT-15 is an entry-level sports bike which gets a muscular design inspired by its elder sibling, the MT-09.
The Yamaha MT-15 gets an aggressive looking LED headlight, sculpted fuel tank with a sharp design. The bike also gets a fully digital instrument cluster from the new R15. The MT-15 receives wider tyres along with disc brakes at both ends.
When the MT-15 was revealed in Thailand it was equipped with USD forks. However, the India spec model is most likely to get a conventional unit similar to the R15 V3. The monoshock, brakes and chassis will be shared from the R15. The MT-15 will come equipped with ABS as standard.
The exact power figure is not confirmed but it is likely to get the same output as the Yamaha R15 V3. The 155cc single-cylinder engine produces 19.3 HP and 15 Nm of torque in the R15 and also features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). Expect the MT-15 to offer decent mid-range performance without compromising on high end power delivery.
It is expected that the 2019 Yamaha MT-15 will be priced slightly lower than the R15 which costs Rs. 1.27 lakhs (ex-showroom). With the R15 engine, this motorcycle will compete against higher capacity sports bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.
