Yamaha M-Slaz (Naked R15) To Be Officially Revealed On 1st December

The R15 street-fighter has been christened as the M-Slaz for the South East Asian market and will be officially revealed at the 32nd Thailand Motor Show.

The M-Slaz uses the same Deltabox frame as the Yamaha R15

Yamaha’s naked derivative of the R15 has been in the making for quite some time now and while the world thought of it as the ‘MT-15’, the automaker more recently announced that its 150cc street-fighter motorcycle will be called the ‘M-Slaz’. Yamaha’s newest street-fighter motorcycle, the M-Slaz will be making its official debut at the 32nd Thailand International Motor Show on 1st December and new photos and teaser shots have been leaked online revealing new details on the upcoming naked motorcycle.

On the outset, the Yamaha M-Slaz shares its underpinnings with the R15 right from the Deltabox frame to the 149cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. Power output on the M-Slaz is said to be marginally better than its full faired derivative, paired to a 6-speed gearbox and will run on 91 octane fuel. The interesting upgrade turns out to be the suspensions setup on the M-Slaz with USD forks up front while the rear continues to get a monoshock unit. Braking performance comes from discs at the front and rear carried over from the R15. The kerb weight is said to be around 135 kgs.

Further, the leaked images and teaser shots show the new styling on the Yamaha M-Slaz giving it a sharp and contemporary appeal. Extended fenders on either side of the fuel tank, smart body graphics, two-tone paint job, split seats and wide handlebar makes the M-Slaz a sporty street-fighter while the Kawasaki Z1000 inspired headlight cluster fits well into the package. If reports are to be believed, the M-Slaz comes with a LED headlight and tail light making it the first bike in the segment to do so.

You also get a glimpse of the all digital instrument cluster that is compact and sharp packing a host of information. The Yamaha M-Slaz will first go on sale in Thailand soon after its official reveal with prices expected to be around 85,000 Thai Baht (approx. Rs. 1.58 lakhs). The Japanese automaker at present has shared no plans of the M-Slaz coming to India, but we will be keeping our keen eyes on the street-fighter that might form the basis of the R15 V3.0.
