Yamaha has launched four new colours and graphics for its flagship YZF-R15 version 2.0 motorcycle in India. The new colours available for the R15 include raring red, invincible black, racing blue and grid gold. The new colours raring red and invincible black are priced at Rs. Rs. 1,10,003/- (ex-showroom, Delhi), whereas the colours racing blue and grid gold are priced at a premium of Rs. 1,12,924 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The grid gold shade was also showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo last month.
Yamaha has launched the new colours to induce some freshness in the R15 V2.0. The premium 150cc motorcycle has a huge fan following in the country for its impeccable riding dynamics and sporty looks. The company believes that the addition of the new colour schemes and graphics will help increase the sales of their flagship model. The R15 V2.0 was launched in 2011 and has seen very minimal revision ever since.
Output wise the Yamaha R15 remains the same and is powered by a 149.8cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, SOHC engine capable of producing 17 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 15 Nm of peak torque at 7500 RPM. Yes, Yamaha has made a large number of changes to the motor for reducing emissions but the power output hasn’t increase one bit. There is no V3 planned in the near future either.
