Yamaha India has given slight updates to the FZ-S, FZ16 and Fazer motorcycles. These updates are quite small, that Yamaha chose not to announce them. Both the bikes now get a longer and wider pillion seat with new grab rails. A new chain protector has been added too, while the FZ-S gets a The Yamaha FZ-S is now available in a new fiery orange colour, while the rest of the colours are still on offer including the competition white, sunset red and black cyber green. The FZ on the other hand is offered in lava red and midnight black.
Yamaha has chosen to give minor updates to the FZ and FZ-S as lately it was the R15 Version 2.0 and Fazer which had got updates with special colours being offered. The Yamaha FZ16 and the Yamaha FZ-S are powered by a 153cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder petrol engine which produces 14 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 13.6 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. Yes Yamaha have decreased the torque from 14 Nm to 13.6 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, which is butter smooth to operate. The air-cooled engine has 2-valves and the FZ sports very wide 140 section tyres at the rear.
The new Yamaha FZ16 is priced at Rs. 69,250/-, the new FZ-S is priced at Rs. 71,280/- , while the new Fazer is priced at Rs. 76,830/- (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The Yamaha FZ bikes don’t really need any update but the above ones are welcome. However Yamaha should consider incorporating more features in the FZ motorcycles such as rear disc brakes and better headlamps. This will help the Japanese automaker to compete with the upcoming onslaught of launches from Bajaj Auto.
