The Yamaha FZ25 ABS and Fazer 25 ABS have been launched with dual-channel ABS.
Earlier this month, Yamaha launched the R15 with dual-channel ABS and got a lot of applause from enthusiasts. Now, the company has announced the launch of the FZ25 ABS and the Fazer 25 ABS which also get dual-channel ABS, priced at Rs. 1.33 lakhs for the street-fighter and Rs. 1.43 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom) for the full-faired model. Yamaha is charging Rs. 15,000/- for dual-channel ABS.
There are no other changes to Yamaha’s 250cc motorcycles which continue to draw power from a 250cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that outputs 20.3 BHP of power at 8000 RPM and 20 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. While these numbers might seem less for the segment, frugal engineering and great tuning of the motor has made the FZ25 and Fazer 25 quite fast with 0-100 km/hr acceleration taking around 10 seconds. With the engine tuned more for acceleration than top speed, these Yamaha’s struggle to cross 140 km/hr.
The Yamaha FZ25 ABS is available in 3 colours – dark matt blue, cyan blue and matt black, meanwhile the Yamaha Fazer 25 ABS is offered in 2 colours – metallic black and dark matt blue.
The Yamaha FZ25 competes with the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 ABS (yes, that’s a long name) and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 while the Yamaha Fazer 25 competes with the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. Although Yamaha is last to bring out its ABS models, the fact they didn’t cut costs for a single-channel ABS makes us shout ‘Yes Yamaha’, as they say, better late than never!
