The Yamaha FZ-S carb has been discontinued while the FZ-S FI gets a new colour and the prices of the Fazer FI, FZ FI and FZ-S FI have increased by Rs. 600/-.
The Yamaha FZ can easily be claimed as the reason for the growing popularity of street-fighters in India as it was the first naked bike with rich hardware and impressed buyers immediately after launch. The automaker launched the second generation fuel-injected variants last year while the carbureted variants were retained. However, the FZ-S carb has now been discontinued while the FZ and Fazer carb are still on sale.
The Yamaha FZ-S carb suddenly disappeared from the automaker’s Indian website while the FZ and Fazer carb still appear in the lineup. This brings the six model FZ and Fazer lineup down to five models that include the FZ FI, FZ-S FI, Fazer FI and carbureted versions of the FZ and Fazer.
Along with this, the Yamaha FZ-S FI gets a new matte green colour option which will be sold at a price of Rs. 83,259/- and the prices of both the Fazer FI and FZ-S FI has gone up by Rs. 600/- while the prices of the FZ FI have also increased by a similar amount (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The FZ-S FI Matte green was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The Yamaha FZ FI is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 13.1 PS at 8000 RPM and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM while the FZ carb is powered by a 153cc engine without fuel-injection that produces 14 PS at 7500 RPM and 13.6 Nm at 6000 RPM. Both the powerplants are mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
