The Yamaha FZ 200 / FZ 250 has been spotted undisguised. A video has also surfaced showing the bike completely uncovered.
The Yamaha FZ 200 / FZ 250 has been spotted undisguised. The motorcycle has been rumoured to be under development for quite some time. The bike has been in the limelight since it has started undergoing testing rounds. But now we have the clearest images of the bike in its uncovered glory.
The motorcycle resembles a lot to the FZ series currently sold in India. It follows the same design language, has a contoured muscular tank with step seats and raised pointed tail with an aggressive front facia. The front forks are thick and the exhaust canister also has shared design elements.
The front of the motorcycle resembles the M-Slaz sold in the Indonesian market. The motorcycle will come with a digital instrument cluster, LED daytime running units and a small visor which holds the registration plate. Part sharing with existing motorcycles in Yamaha India’s lineup is clearly visible.
The motorcycle could borrow the 249.45cc engine of the Fazer 250 sold in Brazil. This motor puts out 20.7 PS of power and 20.5 Nm of torque. Although, the power output and the torque is expected to be revised for the Indian market as competitors have considerably more powerful motors.
Yamaha will have to price this motorcycle very aggressively considering that Bajaj has launched the 373.3cc Dominar 400 at a starting price of 1.36 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle will go up against rivals like the KTM Duke 200, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, KTM RC 200, Honda CBR 250R, etc.
