Yamaha Fascino 113cc Scooter Launched, Priced At Rs. 52,500/- [Live]

Yamaha continues to bet big on scooters as it launched its fourth scooter in India, the Fascino. The company wants every second 2-wheeler being sold in India from its dealerships to be a scooter.

The Fascino is Yamaha’s fourth scooter in India and all use the same engine

Yamaha has launched a new scooter in the Indian market, called the Fascino. A quick Google search for the words “Yamaha Fascino” reveal that the same name was used by the company for a fashion contest and a calendar with the same name was also launched. Now Yamaha has used the Fascino name on a scooter and it’s a retro looking model like the Piaggio Vespa. Fascino stands for fashion and the company claims it has comfortable seats, a large footboard and the engine is equipped with Yamaha’ Blue Core technology to help achieve a mileage of 66 km/l, under ideal test conditions of course. This is the highest claimed mileage on a scooter in India.

The Yamaha Fascino is priced at Rs. 52,500/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes in 5 colours – red, cobalt, white, cyan and black. Power comes in from the same 113cc, air-cooled, 2-valve engine that powers the Ray, Ray Z and Alpha, the other scooters in Yamaha’s lineup. The single-cylinder powerplant produces 7.1 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 8.1 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM, matched to a V-Belt automatic transmission. It is equipped with an underbone chassis and has drum brakes at both ends, the tyre size being 90/100/10 at both the front and rear.

The Yamaha Fascino weighs 103 kgs and is 1815 mm long, 675 mm wide and 1120 mm tall. The wheelbase is 1270 mm while the minimum ground clearance is 128 mm and the fuel tank capacity is 5.2-litres. The seat height of this Japanese scooter is 775 mm. While many were expecting Yamaha to launch a 125cc scooter, the company continues to launch new scooters with the same engine as its first scooter, the Ray. Meanwhile, the attractive pricing of the Yamaha Fascino is sure to be a threat to Piaggio who manage to sell around 2000 units of the Vespa every month.
