Yamaha has pulled the plug on 6 bikes, not giving them BS6 compliant engines.
Yamaha has not updated 6 products to comply with the BS6 emission norms and hence they have been discontinued. The Japanese bike maker pulled the plug on these bikes as they had less demand or they were not feasible to update.
The Yamaha Saluto RX, Saluto 125, SZ-RR V2.0, FZ25, Fazer 25 and R3 are no longer on sale in India.
The Yamaha Saluto RS was a commuter bike with 110cc engine, priced from Rs. 52,350/- (all prices, ex-showroom). It couldn’t attract a lot of buyers in the market. Same is the case with its elder sibling Saluto 125 that was priced from Rs. 60,850/-.
Yamaha SZ-RR V2.0 was a 150cc bike priced at Rs. 69,653/-. It face a lot of heat from the competition and couldn’t survive in the market.
Another bike biting the dust is the Yamaha FZ25 naked motorcycle that came with a 250cc engine, priced from Rs. 1.34 lakhs. Yamaha hasn’t updated the bike with a BS6 engine yet. Same is the case with its fully faired Fazer 25 priced from Rs. 1.45 lakhs.
The Yamaha R3 has been removed from the lineup as well, the company hasn’t updated the bike with a BS6 motor. The R3 was quite popular among enthusiasts for its twin-cylinder engine. However, with a price tag of Rs. 3.50 lakhs, it couldn’t fetch many takers.
