Its Official, the much awaited VW Vento is to hit the road by Autumn this year. (Technically speaking, we dont really have an autumn in India). Recently launched in Russia, the Vento will be manufactured in VW’s Chakan plant and is specifically designed keeping the Indian consumer in mind. The Vento will be available in a 1.6 ltr petrol and diesel engine with manual as well as automatic transmission(petrol).
As compared to the Polo, the Vento will deliver more space in the cabin owing to a longer wheelbase. It will have a high ground clearance and a suspension that is specially built to tackle Indian roads. ABS and Airbags will be standard on the top models and a powerful air conditioner will be a boon in extreme Indian climate. Pricing has not been announced as yet and will be a key to the success of the Vento. The Vento is likely to be priced around the 7 – 8 lakh mark (ex showroom).
