VW India has launched “My Volkswagen Connect” connected car tech in its Polo GT TSI and Vento Highline Plus models.
The carmaker claims that the interactive sim-based app brings convenience and safety as it provides features such as real-time location, towing alert, geo-fencing, route deviation alert and SOS call, among others.
Offered as a standard fitment in the above mentioned models, it is available with 3 years of free subscription and a 3-year warranty.
My Volkswagen Connect can be accessed by plugging the dongle to the on-board diagnostics (OBD) port of the car. Once a smartphone is connected to the system via a dedicated app, one can make use of the tech to access several features.
Owners can analyse their driving style (or that of someone else), check the acceleration and RPM, average speed, braking behavior, distance travelled and even get data about the coolant temperature, among other details.
Further, the VW Connected car tech also enables customers to locate their point of interest and also to reach out to customer care or roadside assistance, in case of an emergency.
Additionally, one can also use the app to scan, upload and store critical vehicular documents or related official documents to go paperless.
Also, people can set renewal reminders for vehicle insurance using the VW Connected car tech and receive over-the-air software updates as well.
