The Volvo V40 Cross Country is now available with a petrol motor that produces 185 PS of power, making it one of the most powerful hatchbacks in the country.
Having brought the V40 Cross Country diesel in India back in 2013, Volvo has now officially launched its new petrol powered derivative in the country priced at Rs. 27 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) giving a spirited performance option to the enthusiasts. Retaining the same aesthetics as its diesel variant, the 2015 V40 Cross Country petrol is powered by the 1.6-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine sourced from Ford that produces a whopping 185 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The new found motor also makes the V40 Cross Country one of the most powerful hatchbacks to go on sale in the country and is capable of doing the 0-100 km/hr run in 8.5 seconds. Known for its extensive amount of safety tech, Volvo had loaded the rugged hatchback with a host of features including 7 airbags, City Safety Technology, traction control, park assist, ABS, EBD, ESP and much more. The hatchback also comes equipped with features like cruise control, park assist system, leather seats with ventilation, panoramic sunroof, reverse camera with rear parking sensors, push button start and keyless entry among others.
A good looking car with strong lines and a bold fascia, the Volvo V40 Cross Country is also a practical offering with ample of space on the inside with a wheelbase measuring 2646 mm and a higher ground clearance over its other European rivals. Speaking of which, given its rugged stance, the V40 Cross Country petrol competes against the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and Audi Q3. The Chinese-owned Swedish auto giant will continue to bring the V40 Cross Country via the CBU route in India and has also commenced bookings for the same. In addition, Volvo India will also bring the petrol powered S60 sedan and the new generation XC90 luxury SUV in the country this year.
