Volvo has launched the new S60 and XC60 in India with significant changes over the previous models in terms of styling and features. The new offerings were showcased at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. The new Volvo S60 gets a mature face that includes a redesigned front grille, which is wide and a new set of swept back headlamps. The front bumper also gets revised with sleeker styling elements. The rear gets mild changes that include redesigned exhaust pipes. The S60 is available in four new colours – Passion Red, Vibrant Copper, Crystal White Pearl and Power Blue.
The Volvo XC60 gets similar styling changes that make it look fresh. The front end gets tweaked with a revised grille and broader set of headlamps. The redesigned bumper integrates LED daytime running lights with a sportier bumper lip featuring a silver finished scuff plate. The rear profile gets updated with new bumper with a scuff plate integrated wide dual exhausts. The XC60 is available in eight colours – black, silver, blue, bronze, red, white, bright silver and rich java. Both the offerings get optional interior colour themes as well as alloy wheel pattern.
Volvo is offering the S60 sedan and the XC60 crossover with identical variant lineup and engine options. There are two diesel engine options – D4 and D5. The 2.0-litre D4 diesel unit produces a maximum power of 163 BHP with 400 Nm of peak torque. The 2.4-litre D5 diesel unit produces 215 BHP of power with 440 Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The S60 has a front-wheel drive layout, while the XC60 D5 comes with an all-wheel drive setup.
The Volvo S60 and XC60 gets enhanced features such as digital instrument cluster with active TFT display that comes in three graphic themes – Elegance, ECO and Performance. We have seen the new instrument cluster on the Volvo V40 Cross Country. New sport seats are offered for better support. The steering wheel is three-spoke, which gets added with paddle shifters to select gears manually. The City Safety feature can now assist the driver up to 50 km/hr speed, where it prevents collisions by applying brakes automatically with the help of sensors. Volvo continues to import the S60 and XC60 via the CBU route.
