Volkswagen had earlier planned to unveil the Virtus at the 2022 Auto Expo
Volkswagen is to unveil its new Virtus sedan in February 2022, while its launch will take place by late April in India.
Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, Ashish Gupta has revealed that production of the Virtus is set to commence either in February or March and then by the end of April 2022, the market introduction will happen.
It is said the German firm had planned to reveal the C-segment sedan at the 2022 Auto Expo. Despite the biennial event getting postponed, Volkswagen is sticking to its plans.
To be built using the MQB-A0-IN platform, the same as its twin the Skoda Slavia, the India-spec Virtus is likely to be the facelifted version of the model that is already on sale overseas.
The global model measures 4482 mm long, 1751 mm wide, 1472 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2651 mm. The wheelbase is the same as the soon-to-be launch Taigun.
When the India-spec Volkswagen Virtus unveil takes place, details about its features and powertrains will be out. However, since the c-segment sedan will be based on the same platform has the brand’s Hyundai Creta rival, we can expect it come with similar goodies.
Thus, there should be a digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting and full-LED exterior lights.
In terms of powertrain, the Virtus is sure to come with 1.0-litre TSI (115 PS and 178 Nm) and 1.5-litre TSI (150 PS and 250 Nm) and 3 gearbox options including a 7-speed DSG.
When the launch of the Skoda Slavia happens by the year-end, the tentative pricing of the Virtus can be ascertained through the Czech car’s asking price.
