The teaser campaign of the Volkswagen Virtus has begun
Volkswagen India has released a teaser image of the upcoming Virtus C-segment sedan that will be unveiled on 8th March 2022, days after Skoda launches the Slavia.
If brightened up, the teaser image of the Virtus reveals the car’s entire front end and top section. The shape of the vehicle is that of a typical sedan, having a long body, a narrow roof and wider tracks.
Featuring LED headlights with DRLs, the sedan has a flat bonnet with minimal character lines, but the bumper is made to look sporty. Also, the grille has chrome embellishment.
Other details that can be seen include a lip spoiler on the boot lid, but the tail lights have not been shown, for now. Expect the German marque to reveal more details about the car in the lead up to its debut event.
Essentially the non-identical twin of the Skoda Slavia, the Volkswagen Virtus is based on the MQB-A0-IN architecture. It will be packed to the rafters with new age features including a digital instrument cluster, 10-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, wireless device charger, wireless smartphone connectivity, among other features.
But, the car’s trump card is its engine options. Volkswagen will offer customers the option of choosing between a 3-cylinder, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor (115 PS and 178 Nm) and a more powerful 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (150 PS and 250 NM).
A 6-speed manual transmission will be the mainstay for both engine variants. But, the smaller motor can also be had with a 6-speed automatic, whereas the larger, 4-cylinder unit comes with the option of a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
While the Volkswagen Virtus teaser and debut date are out, its launch date isn’t. But, the German marque is expected to introduce the car to the market in May.
