Volkswagen claims to have improved the fuel efficient of the Vento facelift by upto 7.5 percent for all the three engines powering the C-segment sedan.
Manufacturers including Honda, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are giving Volkswagen many sleepless nights in the C-segment. This can be attributed to the fact that Volkswagen’s after sales service and spare parts cost have been lagging as compared to its rivals, which is basically taking prospective buyers away from the company’s showrooms. To keep the battle in the C-segment intense, Volkswagen had recently unveiled the 2015 model of the Vento sedan. This version has been improved by quite an extent over its predecessor and makes the new Vento a much better option than before.
One of the main features which attracts an Indian car buyer towards a particular model is fuel efficiency. Other than working on the exterior and interior department of the Vento facelift, the German giant says that it has tuned all of the three engines – 1.2-litre TSI, 1.6-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TDI to deliver up to 7.5 percent more mileage than before. Power figures of the three engines will however remain unchanged. Volkswagen seems to have taken mileage as an important subject because the Ciaz and City both return a mileage figure of around 26 km/l. Whether or not the minor bump in fuel efficiency will turn the game in Volkswagen’s favour still needs to be seen, but it seems highly unlikely.
2015 Volkswagen Vento Facelift Mileage (as per ARAI) –
* 1.6 Petrol – increased from 15.04 km/l to 16.09 km/l
* 1.2 Petrol AT – increased from 16.93 km/l to 18.19 km/l
* 1.5 Diesel – increased from 20.34 km/l to 20.4 km/l
* 1.5 Diesel AT – increased from 21.21 km/l to 21.50 km/l
Anyhow, the Volkswagen Vento facelift is a more compelling car to buy as its looks much more upmarket and premium than before. The mildly redesigned front end, added chrome to the front and rear bumper and few other subtle changes keep the classic Vento lines, but makes it look fresher. This is the perfect vehicle for those people who prefer solid build quality, good handling and a slick automatic transmission, thanks to the impressive DSG unit. The facelift also comprises of additional features on the interior front, like a cooled glovebox, cruise control, electrically retracting rearview mirrors and also a dead pedal.
