The Vento diesel DSG automatic gets no changes to the exteriors apart from new wheels and is the second diesel automatic in the segment after the Hyundai Verna.
Ahead of the official launch later this week, the 2014 Volkswagen Vento diesel DSG automatic has been spotted at a dealership in the country leaving very little to the imagination. While the outgoing model is available with the 1.6-litre TDI engine, paired to a 5-speed transmission; the 2014 Vento gets updated with the new India specific 1.5-litre diesel engine that debuted on the Polo hatchback earlier this year and will be mated to a DSG automatic gearbox along with a 5-speed manual unit.
On the outside, the updated Vento gets no changes to the exteriors apart from new alloy wheels and a new copper brown shade. On the inside however, the updated Vento replicates the new Polo with the flat-bottom steering wheel and an identical centre console. You get two tone beige and black interiors on the top end version with chrome inserts and brushed aluminium finishing all round and leather upholstery. Other features include steering mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control and much more.
Under the hood, the 1.5-litre TDI motor produces 105 HP of power and 250 Nm of torque and is also available on the updated Polo GT TDI. The updated engine is expected to be far more efficient and has proven its performance attributes on the Polo with the linear power delivery. The Vento has been slipping drastically in sales in the C-segment segment, especially after the arrival of the new Honda City. With a diesel automatic on offer, the model will be second in the segment to do so after the Hyundai Verna. The Vento TDI DSG will be the new top-end variant in the model’s lineup. Skoda will also launch the Rapid diesel with a DSG automatic later this week.
