Volkswagen has announced that it will auction the new 2011 Passat during the IPL tournament and donate its proceeds to the World Wildlife Wide Fund for nature (WWF) – India. The auction will be online, starting April 25, 2011 for 10 days and routed through the IPL official website to eBay for the transaction. The winner of the auction will be given the car in a ceremony just before the start of the finals of the tournament. The car to be auctioned would be the Passat Highline in Cashmere Brown colour featuring the autograph of all the teams captains on the bonnet. The winner will also get an autographed bat with the car.
“We chose to auction our newest product, the all new Passat and donate its proceeds to an organization like the WWF which is dedicated to conserving the environment i.e. also in line with our Think Blue campaign. The all new Passat is on display at all the stadiums of the IPL matches and we are very happy with the response that we have received since its launch late last month,” Mr. Lutz Kothe, Head of Marketing and PR, Volkswagen India said.
