Volkswagen Tiguan R Line will be imported to India via CBU route

Volkswagen India has officially opened bookings for the upcoming Tiguan R Line, ahead of its market debut on 14th April. Interested customers can now reserve the SUV either through Volkswagen’s official website or at authorised dealerships. This new variant, arriving as a CBU, brings with it a blend of performance, premium features and a bold design language.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the Tiguan R Line for India features a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 204 HP and 320 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The performance figures are impressive, with the SUV claimed to sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 7.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 229 km/hr.

Volkswagen is offering the Tiguan R Line in six monotone paint finishes, providing buyers with a wide selection of sophisticated shades. The available colours include:

Interior and Features

The cabin of the Tiguan R Line is equipped with several premium upgrades. A 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen – powered by VW’s latest MIB4 infotainment OS – headline the dashboard. The system also supports over-the-air software updates.

Additional features include sports seats, ambient lighting, a drive mode selector and steering-mounted controls. The SUV also comes with dual-zone climate control, with touch-based operation integrated into the infotainment display.

Volkswagen has equipped the Tiguan R Line with an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems suite that includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, enhancing both convenience and safety.

Pricing Expectations

While the previous iteration of the Tiguan, assembled locally as a CKD, was priced at Rs. 38.17 lakhs (ex-showroom), the R Line variant is expected to carry a higher price tag due to its CBU status. Industry estimates suggest a price point in the range of Rs. 50 lakhs (ex-showroom).

With the Tiguan R Line, Volkswagen aims to attract buyers seeking a sporty and tech-forward SUV with European refinement. The official price announcement and full launch will take place on 14th April.
