Volkswagen India has started production of the Tiguan at their Aurangabad facelity.
Amidst a lot of hype, Volkswagen had showcased the Tiguan at the 2016 Auto Expo. Recently, the company announced that they will be launching the car in India this year itself and now the automaker has commenced production of the Tiguan at their plant in Aurangabad.
The Volkswagen Tiguan will be slotted in the premium SUV segment and is likely to cost somewhere around Rs. 32-36 lakhs. The SUV will be offered in a 5-seater configuration and it gets a lot of gadgetry and equipment. On the engine front, the Tiguan is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine mated to a 6-speed wet-clutch DSG transmission.
Skoda is also going to launch the Kodiaq in India this year. Both the Tiguan and Kodiaq will be positioned in the same segment and the equation will be similar to that of the Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. Along with that, Volkswagen is also going to launch the new Passat in India in 2017.
