The 2015 Volkswagen Vento facelift will retain the family but with a fresh new styling while retaining its well appointed interiors and powertrain.
With sales taking a major plunge year-on-year, Volkswagen India has charted out a new plan to redeem its market share in the country which includes launching a compact sedan and compact SUV that will be competing with a host of offerings in the aggressive segments. However, with the new launches still a good time away, the company has commenced work on comprehensively updating its Vento C-segment sedan that took a major beating with the arrival of the new Honda City last year. In these spy shots sent by our reader Abhishek Krishnan, the 2015 Vento facelift was caught with partial camouflage during test runs on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
While we have already seen the Russian-spec Vento facelift with the three-slat chrome grille up front, we expect to see a more distinctively different front fascia on the India-spec Vento facelift without straying too much from the automaker’s family design language. At the rear, the boot-lid is expected to get some basic changes with the tail lights sporting new elements that will give the rear fascia a fresh new look. On the inside though, the Vento facelift is expected to continue with the recently refreshed layout that features a flat-bottom steering wheel, piano black finished centre console and beige upholstered seats.
The 2015 Vento facelift will continue to draw power from the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to the 7-speed DSG automatic transmission while the 1.6-litre petrol paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox will also available on the lower variants. Diesel power will continue from the new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TDI diesel engine paired to a 5-speed gearbox as well as the 7-speed DSG autobox. A launch can be expected around the festive season with a marginal revision in the prices.
