Volkswagen T-Roc experiencing good demand, could get local assembly.
Volkswagen recently introduce the T-Roc in India as a CBU import with a price tag of Rs. 19.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The German automaker has sold out the first batch imported in India.
The VW T-Roc has been imported under the Indian government’s import rule of 2500 units without homologation. This lets the carmakers sample some of the cars in our market to see the customer response.
Volkswagen also introduced the Tiguan AllSpace in the country and 50 percent of the shipment has already been sold. If demand persists, both the T-Roc and Tiguan AllSpace will get local assembly in India to get the price down.
The German carmaker will assemble the completely knocked down (CKD) kits of these SUVs at their Aurangabad facility.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen is working on the heavily localised version of the India-spec Taigun that they revealed during the Auto Expo 2020. The production version is scheduled to be launched by 2021.
