Volkswagen Polo GTI launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 25.99 lakhs. The German hot hatch is available in limited 99 units for India initially.
Volkswagen India showcased the Polo GTI at the Auto Expo 2016 which grabbed eye balls from the petrol heads. The performance oriented Polo has finally been launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 25.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Only 99 units of the Polo GTI are available initially in India.
The German automaker is accepting bookings of the Polo GTI at select VW dealerships across the country. Volkswagen will be arranging test drives of the GTI for select customers. The hot hatch is available in India in its 3-door version only.
Powering the Volkswagen Polo GTI is a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine that produces a whopping 192 PS of power at 5400-6200 RPM and 250 Nm of peak torque at 1250-5300 RPM. This engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The 0-100 km/hr sprint comes up in just 7.2 seconds while the top speed is claimed to be 233 km/hr. There is no manual transmission option and the GTI only comes with a single fully loaded variant. The suspension has been stiffened up to handle the extra performance and similar changes has been made to the mechanicals.
