Volkswagen has launched the Polo GT in India, powered by a 1.2-litre TSI engine, producing 105 PS of power at 5000 RPM and 175 Nm of torque between 1500-4100 RPM. This engine is turbocharged and the sub 1.2-litre capacity helps VW to get excise duty benefits. Mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission, the Polo GT also gets ESP as standard and is offered in Highline trim. The successor to the Polo 1.6, the Polo GT offers a good mix of performance and mileage, with the convenience of an autobox.
The Volkswagen Polo GT reaches 100 km/hr from standstill in a claimed 9.7 seconds, with the top speed being 190 km/hr. The ARAI certified mileage is 17.2 km/l which is decent for a car with this sort of performance. This version of the Polo gets a GT badge on the grille along with GT TSI stickers on the C-pillar. The interiors get sport pedals along with the autobox gear lever which are the differentiating factors with its less powerful variants. Hill Hold function is also offered. Other than SD card, USB and Aux ports, the audio system also has Bluetooth connectivity.
