The German car giant, Volkswagen has finally decided to bring Porsche branded cars to the Indian market on its own. Till date, Precision Cars India was the sole importer and distributor of Porsche cars in the Indian market. However, after seeing a huge demand for Porsche, the parent company has decided to do the operation on its own. Within the VW Group Sales India Private Limited (Pvt. Ltd.), the Porsche division will focus on all distribution-related areas for Porsche in India.
It will also work towards increasing the brands presence through the further development of the Porsche dealer network. For this the company has roped in Mr. Anil Reddi, a market expert with almost 16 years of experience in the field of national and international automotive experience. On this occasion, he commented that Building on the growing success of Porsche in India isn’t a challenge rather it’s something they are looking forward to embracing with pride.
Under the new agreement, Precision Cars India will only sell and service Porsche models through its setup in India. The first model which Volkswagen would be bringing in the Indian market is the Porsche 911 Carrera, a vehicle about which I talked about just few days ago. Porsche would also be launching its Panamera Diesel and Macan which is expected to be available off the production lines in 2013.
