Volkswagen Golf GTI to launch in India with a 265 HP engine, limited to 250 units
The Volkswagen Golf GTI, an iconic hot hatch, has been seen on Indian roads for the first time, signaling its imminent launch in the country. Expected to arrive between April and June, the model is set to be priced at approximately Rs. 50 lakhs (ex-showroom). The first batch will be limited to just 250 units, all of which will be brought in as completely built units (CBUs).
Spotted in India: Design and Exterior Highlights
A recently surfaced spy image showcases the Golf GTI in an undisguised form, finished in Moonstone Grey. The vehicle sports a distinctive GTI badge on the door, bright red brake callipers and 19-inch five-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear design features smoked LED tail lamps and a sporty roof spoiler, enhancing its aggressive stance.
Although the front was not visible in the image, the Golf GTI is known for its sleek LED headlights connected by a red trim, a honeycomb-patterned grille with the GTI badge and a large air dam with integrated daytime running lights.

This unit generates 265 HP and 370 Nm of peak torque, delivering power to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in a claimed 5.9 seconds, with an electronically capped top speed of 250 km/hr.
