The Volkswagen I.D. Concept is loaded with technology and will be launched in 2020. It’s an electric car with autonomous features.
TheVolkswagen I.D. Concept has been showcased at the ongoing Paris Motor Show and it is based on the MEB (Modular Electric Drive) platform. This electric car is likely to go on sale in 2020. Just like other EVs, the I.D. also has a very unique styling and the design looks quite appealing to the eyes.
The Volkswagen I.D. Concept is powered by an electric power that produces 168 HP of power. The exact size of the battery hasn’t been revealed by the company though. The vehicle has a top speed of 159 km/hr and it can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in less than 8 seconds. On full charge, the I.D. can travel for 400-600 kms according to the European driving cycle.
When the production version hits the market, buyers will be able to customise their electric motors for more or less power and even batteries of different sizes will be offered. The battery takes 30 minutes to get charged up to 80% and it can be charged via a cable or an inductive charging station.
The Volkswagen I.D. has a fully autonomous driving mode and all one has to do is press the Volkswagen logo on the steering wheel and wait for 3 seconds. The car can also find a parking spot for itself without any help from the driver. One can press the accelerator or brake pedals to disable the auto driving mode. The autonomous feature will be available from 2025 though.
