VinFast is Vietnam’s leading EV manufacturer has made a bold impression at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The brand has decided to showcase 4 Electric SUVs i.e. VF6, VF7, VF8 and VF9 in the coming years. These vehicles are tailored to meet the diverse needs of consumers, ranging from compact urban SUVs to luxury full-size models. Let’s take a closer look at these models and understand how they prioritise practicality and sustainability.
VinFast VF6
The VinFast VF6 is a compact SUV designed for city dwellers that combines practicality with modern aesthetics. The front end focuses on the VinFast logo as the LED DRLs or “eyebrows” form a symmetrical V shape on both sides to compliment it.
The VF6 should be available with a 59.6 kWh battery offering up to 399 km in the Eco variant producing 174 HP and 250 NM of torque. Buyers will have the opportunity to choose the Plus variant with a higher state of tune at 201 HP and 310 NM of torque and a range of 381 km.
The interior of the VF6 will have multiple interior creature comforts including a 12.9-inch infotainment system, Level 2 ADAS etc. The VF6 is expected to start production in June and sales will commence in the second half of 2025. The most interesting aspect of this SUV would be the monthly battery subscription which would be separate from the model’s base price.
VinFast VF7
The VinFast VF 7 is an electric SUV that is sleek and offers a compact design. In terms of styling, it blends futuristic design with the Vietnamese flair. It is supposed to slot below the bigger VF8 and above the VF6 Sub-Compact SUV. The VF7 will be available with a Single-motor Eco version delivering 201 HP and a dual-motor AWD Plus version with 348 HP. Both variants will be available with a 75.3 kWh battery delivering 450 km and 431 km respectively.
The VF7 will be offered with many features such as Level 2 ADAS, a 15-inch infotainment system, Amazon Alexa Voice Commands, Wireless Android Auto and CarPlay. The infotainment system will also support features like an in-car Karaoke App, allowing passengers to sing to their heart’s content. Overall, the interior echoes a minimalist approach as the Eco models will be equipped with Cloth Upholstery and the Plus models will be fitted with Faux Leather.
Overall, the VinFast VF7 is an interesting mix of funky technology and performance. As VinFast is a new brand, it should offer a 10-year powertrain warranty and a 10-year warranty on Battery Components. Considering its unique features, it has the potential to be an ideal choice for urban families.
VinFast VF8
The VinFast VF8 is the brand’s full-size electric SUV offering a perfect balance of practicality, comfort, and range. It is supposed to slot between the more luxurious 3-row VF9 and the midsize VF7. The VF8 resembles today’s modern SUVs as opposed to the futuristic designs seen on the VF6 and VF7.
The VF8 doesn’t offer a choice of rear-wheel-drive and will be available with an all-wheel-drive configuration. The VF 8 will produce 349 HP and 402 HP, enabling a dynamic and efficient driving experience. It features either an 82 kWh or 87.7 kWh battery, enabling a range of up to 471 km on a single charge.
The full-size SUV is packed with advanced features, including a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, customizable driving modes, and Level 2+ ADAS, making it a perfect blend of innovation and functionality for Indian roads.
However, as appealing as the VF8 may seem, international buyers have pointed out issues such as bouncy and stiff rides on smooth roads, unsatisfactory quality levels for the price, etc. It remains to be seen whether VinFast resolves these issues and then launches the VF8 in the Indian Market.
VinFast VF9
The VinFast VF9 is a 3-row full-size flagship electric SUV that focuses on luxury and performance. The VinFast VF9 is designed by Pininfarina and integrates the VinFast design language into a sleek and unintimidating silhouette.
The vehicle will be powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 402 HP and 620 Nm of torque. Its 123 kWh battery will provide a range of up to 531 km. The VF9’s Powertrain can charge from 10% to 70% in just 35 minutes with fast DC Charging. It will be fascinating to see how the VinFast VF9 will integrate with Indian conditions in regards to delivering range in our tough environmental conditions and rough roads.
The VF9 will be offered with an expansive interior available in 6 or 7-seat configurations, offering maximum comfort for large families. The VF9’s interior has luxurious features such as a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats with massage functionality, a 15.6-inch infotainment system, and a head-up display, allowing for a premium driving experience.
VinFast’s participation in the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 represents the company’s commitment to the Indian market. With plans to invest $500 million over the next five years, VinFast is set to establish a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, featuring both vehicle assembly and battery production units. This initiative is expected to generate over 3500 jobs, contributing to India’s burgeoning EV industry.
VinFast’s lineup is positioned to play a significant role in the EV Landscape. However, it remains to be seen whether the Indian Market accepts the Vietnamese brand. VinFast entered the international market and received various complaints concerning quality levels and harsh ride. The Indian Automotive Market is largely unforgiving and whether VinFast can deliver a good product remains a riveting question.
