Vespa Refreshed Version Launched, Available In Four Variants With Colour Schemes
Vespa has refreshed the lineup by introducing the updated version of the popular scooter. The new iteration of the iconic Vespa aims to capitalise on the emotions the previous models gave in a fresh package. The Vespa 125 starts at Rs. 1.32 Lakh (ex-showroom) and offers various features to justify the price tag.
Vespa 125
The updated scooter has received various changes to the exterior, albeit they are subtle as opposed to being drastic. The silhouette is clean and follows the characteristic elegance associated with the Vespa brand. The base Vespa 125 comes in seven colours: Verde Amabile, Rosso Red, Pearl White, Nero Black, Azzurro Provenza, Blue & Pearl White, and Orange & Pearl White.
Vespa 125 S
The higher-priced Vespa S offers a higher amount of personalisation as it offers eight different options to choose from: Verde Ambizioso (Matte), Oro, Pearl White, Nero Black (Matte), Giallo Yellow (Matte), Arancio Impulsivo, Red & Pearl White, and Black & Pearl White. The interestingly named “Oro” shade features a gold tint, signifying India’s love for the precious metal. This particular variant is priced at Rs. 1.36 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Vespa Tech & S Tech
There are two new models in the Vespa lineup: Vespa Tech and Vespa S Tech. They are offered with additional features such as keyless ignition, 5-inch TFT Display and Bluetooth Connectivity. The Vespa Tech 125 is available in three colours: Energico Blue, Grigio Grey and Qala. The latter is a special edition that honours the classic Indian Motifs of Mehendi and Artistry. The Tech 125 costs Rs. 1.92 Lakh (ex-showroom).
The top-of-the-line Vespa S Tech in 2 Monochrome colour schemes of Nero Black (Matte) and Pearl White. This variant, meant to be the most elegant, is priced at Rs. 1.92 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
Engine Options
The Vespa is powered by either a 125cc engine, which produces 9.5 HP at 7100 RPM and 10.1 Nm of torque at 5600 Rpm, or a 150cc engine, which produces 11.4 HP at 7500 Rpm and 11.66 Nm of torque at 6100 Rpm. This means a marginal increase in power and torque figures as compared to the outgoing models, aimed to increase enthusiasm and excitement for buyers.
The pricing for the 150cc models will be revealed in due course, but it is safe to assume that Vespa has created a competent scooter. Whilst most scooters focus on features and don’t possess an aesthetic charm, that isn’t the case with the Vespa. The scooter tries to blend the best of the Indian Heritage with the Italian charm, which is a commendable effort by Piaggio India.
