The new fluidic Hyundai Verna is a gorgeous looking car with loads of features attracting heavy sales volumes for the company. The Fluidic Verna is also the only car in its segment to offer an automatic variant with the benefit of frugality of a diesel engine. But currently the automatic gearbox is only available with the highest trim levels making its price beyond the reach of many prospective buyers. Now, Hyundai India has decided to offer the automatic gearbox in the lower trim levels of the 1.6-litre Verna diesel also. The automatic gearbox is a 4-speed unit which was only available in the top SX (O) level trim.
Currently, the automatic variant of Hyundai Verna accounts for 10% of the total sales of Verna. Being a segment first, Hyundai wants to cash in on the opportunity and is now targeting to increase it to 25%. An automatic diesel has many advantages, giving drivers stress free drive with the economy of a diesel. Currently the Verna diesel automatic is the cheapest diesel automatic in the country and Hyundai could consider offering a diesel automatic on the i20 as well.
Apart from the automatic gearbox, Hyundai has also started to offer revere camera as a standard fitment across all the models to increase the sales. The Hyundai Verna being offered in lower variants with the automatic gearbox option will tremendously boost the sales of the Verna. Hyundai tells that its dealers have constantly received inquiries from prospective buyers about a cheaper diesel automatic option. Looks like the company has been listening to customers and incorporating changes accordingly.
