Moto Morini is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer that has collaborated with an Indian custom motorcycle maker, Vardenchi to introduce their bikes in India. Moto Morini was founded in 1937 by Alfonso Morini in Bologna. After a bumpy ride until 2010, Moto Morini finally went into liquidation. In March 2012, the Italian motorcycle maker made a comeback with new models including Giubileo, Corsaro Veloce, Granpasso and the Scrambler. Now, Moto Morini plans to enter India in collaboration with Vardenchi.
Vardenchi is a Mumbai based motorcycle customisation firm, founded by Akshai Varde in the year 2005. Initially, they sourced Royal Enfield engines for their custom choppers and eventually found a source to get V-Twin engines for their motorcycles. According to the agreement, Vardenchi will import and distribute Moto Morini motorcycles in India. The collaboration has arranged a few representatives that are responsible for orders, deliveries and servicing of the bikes from both the brands.
The first lot of Moroni bikes will hit Indian shores early next year. Moto Morini motorcycles will be imported via the CBU route and are expected to be priced around Rs. 14.5 lakhs. The prices for Moto Morini bikes will be announced in February next year and the deliveries will commence by mid-2014. Vardenchi is also considering a custom platform based on the Morini 1200cc V-Twin motorcycle that will be put on sale by Moto Morini in Europe.
