Skoda To Launch 4 New Cars In India By 2021
By the end of 2021, Skoda will add 4 new cars to their lineup in India.
Upcoming Skoda cars timeline revealed for India. With their Skoda 2.0 strategy, the Czech carmaker has already introduced 4 new cars this year. It includes Octavia RS 245, Karoq, Superb facelift and Rapid 1.0 TSI. Now they are gearing up to introduce 4 new models by 2021.
First up is the Skoda Kodiaq petrol that will hit the showrooms by the end of this year. It will be imported via CKD route and assembled locally. As Skoda has decided to go petrol only for now, the diesel Kodiaq was discontinued before BS6 rules were implemented. It will get a 2.0-litre TSI engine producing 188 HP and 320 Nm, mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic.
The much awaited new generation Skoda Octavia was scheduled to launch by the end of 2020 but due to the supply chain issues in lockdown it has been postponed. New gen Octavia India launch is now confirmed for February 2021. This will be a CKD import as well. It will get a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. Skoda might introduce a smaller 1.5-litre TSI later with the new Octavia.
Now in the second quarter of 2021, we will witness the launch of Skoda Vision IN’s production version. It is likely to be called Kliq as per the latest trademark filing. The compact SUV will get heavy localisation in India and compete with Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
Around the festive season next year, Skoda India decides to introduce a new C-segment sedan. This will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform as well. It might look like the international version of the Rapid. The current Rapid is likely to co-exist with a lower price point, while the new sedan will be positioned above it.
