Upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUVs to include 7-seater Alcazar rival, 5-door Jimny and more

India’s largest carmaker is gearing up to introduce a wide range of cars in the near future, let’s have a look at the upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUVs that are coming soon in the market.

In 2022, Maruti plans to introduce the new S-Cross that has been revealed and is expected to launch by May as some dealers have already started taking bookings for the same. The most anticipated launch is the new gen Brezza that will be launched in Q2. It will be based on the same platform but will get a completely new exterior and interior along with a long list of features.

It will be renamed as Brezza and the Vitara moniker will be removed. The new compact SUV will get paddle shifters with new 6-speed auto transmission, sunroof (first time for a Maruti) and many more features. The rebadged Toyota Urban Cruiser will be launched soon after.

In Q3 2022, Maruti plans to launch the Vitara, codenamed YFG. The same car will be introduced by Toyota as well with different styling. It will be based on a new platform and will be positioned above the Brezza. It’ll be produced at Toyota’s plant and components will be supplied by Maruti Suzuki. Powering the car will be a 1.5-litre Suzuki petrol engine with Toyota’s hybrid technology.

In 2023 they are planning to launch an SUV Coupe inspired by the Futuro-e concept that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is codenamed as YTB. The car will be based on Baleno’s platform and is expected to get some hybrid tech.

By the end of 2023 or early 2024, Maruti will introduce the India-spec Jimny with a longer wheelbase and 5 doors. This is the SUV we have all been waiting for and it’s still delayed. We believe it will be based on the facelifted version of the Jimny.

In 2024, the carmaker plans to launch a 7-seater SUV to compete with the Hyundai Alcazar. The SUV is codenamed Y17 and is likely to replace the XL6. It is expected to be based on the Ertiga’s Heartect platform.
