The new SUV codenamed Low-D will share the platform of Jeep Compass
Jeep, as a company, has received a nationwide acceptance in India. So it’s no surprise that they are using the tried and tested Compass platform for their new Jeep Low-D SUV. Jeep is working on this secret model while also preparing for the launch of Compass Traihawk and the next generation Wrangler in India.
The Jeep Low-D SUV is actually the codename for the upcoming 3 row SUV. It will be more expensive and much bigger than the Jeep Compass. The platform is shared by many other Jeep products which dominate the sales in North America. Jeep Renegade and Toro Pickup truck are the most famous examples of this platform in the USA, while the Jeep Compass has proven its success in India.
The upcoming Jeep Low-D SUV will have aggressive pricing, due to maximum localisation. It will also have more spacious interior than the Jeep Compass. The Jeep Low-D SUV is likely to be launched in 2021 and will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Honda CR-V.
Right now, the Jeep Compass is one of the most popular vehicles in India. It is featured as the poster boy for the company in our country and for good reasons. The Jeep Compass is powered by a 2.0-litre MultiJet engine. It produces 173 PS of power at 3750 RPM and an amazing 350 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 RPM. The SUV has a top speed of more than 200 km/hr and an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.1 km/l.
