Renault Sport has come up with a Twizy tweaked with Formula 1 technology. The concept is named as Twizy Reanult Sport F1, which is an electric vehicle equipped with F1 body kit, including front splitter, side-pods, rear wing, diffuser and an F1-style rain light on the lower side of the rear bumper. The Renault Twizy already had some funky looks but with the F1 treatment, the electric vehicle looks much more attractive and aggressive. As seen on Renault powered F1 cars, the Twizy Renault Sport F1 also gets equipped with Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) to boost power.
The Twizy Renault Sport F1 featuring the KERS mechanism helps the electric vehicle boost its power output to almost 100 HP. The Twizy is now capable of doing a 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 6 seconds. To make some space for the KERS system in the Twizy, the engineers had to eliminate its rear seat, so it is a pure single seater sports electric vehicle. The Twizy Renault Sport F1 uses the same tyres fitted to the Formula Renault 2.0 race car. The F1-type steering wheel has been derived from the Formula Renault 3.5 race car. The Twizy also features single-seater type rear view mirrors and LED lights.
The Twizy Renault Sport F1 with the KERS mechanism produces an increased power output of 97 HP over the 17 HP of its standard variant. The electric boost is available for around 13 seconds, as seen on the Formula 1 cars too. The Twizy Renault Sport maxes out at a top speed of 109 km/hr. The KERS system consists of three elements including an electric motor-generator unit (MGU) directly linked to the driveshaft, lithium-ion batteries and a KERS Control Unit (KCU). Renault has no intentions to put this extreme concept into production for the time being.
