TVS Zeppelin cruiser concept

TVS Zepplin R might become TVS’ first proper cruiser, second EV launch this year itself

TVS Zepplin R or Zeppelin cruiser might be launched anytime sooner or later as the company has confirmed many exciting products lined up for launch in the lifestyle segment. It seems like TVS is preparing an onslaught in the area dominated by Royal Enfield.

Before the launch of Ronin, TVS posted a puzzle on its social media handles which had the Zeppelin and Retron names hidden inside. At that time, we speculated that TVS might be readying more than just 1 bike. And, now, it turns out to be true.

The company has already trademarked many names and soon it will start using all of them 1 by 1 for its upcoming lifestyle motorcycles.

The brand is currently in the process of setting up its Royal Enfield-like lifestyle ecosystem with merchandise, riding gears, touring accessories, an online configurator, and a dedicated riding club.

As far as powertrain goes, TVS is likely to use the same 225 cc single cylinder engine for all of its upcoming lifestyle motorcycles.

The oil-cooled square (66 x 66 mm) mill generates 20.13 HP at 7750 RPM and 19.93 Nm at 3750 RPM. It also features an integrated starter generator (ISG) and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox via an assist and slipper clutch.

TVS’ recent teaser with the Zeppelin and Retron names

While the upcoming TVS bikes might get retro styling, expect a lot of modern bits inside. The Ronin, for example, get TVS’ Smart Xonnect Bluetooth connected technology with side stand warning, and turn signal alert.

Further, there are features namely phone battery alert, low fuel alert, find the range, navigation to point of interest, voice based intensity adjustment, etc. In fact, there are a total of 28 different features on offer for the convenience of the riders.

This aside, the company will launch its second EV after the iQube this year itself. But, TVS has been tight-lipped about the product and it’s not known whether it would be a motorcycle or a scooter. What has been confirmed now is that it will be have a battery capacity between 5-15 kWh.
